HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
MAY THE CHERUBS BLESS YOUR LOVE LIFE WITH THEIR SHINY GOLDEN LOVE ARROWS AND MAY YOU SNAG A LOVELY YONG MAN (OR TEACHER, IN JIAMIN'S CASE) ON THIS HIGHLY COMMERCIALISED, SLIGHTLY CHEESY DAY FULL OF SMILING COUPLES, CRYING SINGLES (OR SINGLES WHO ARE PLOTTING DEADLY REVENGE PLANS) AND RICHER FLORISTS!
AND NO, IT SHALL NOT BE CALLED THE CORNY AND RATHER CHEESY 'FRIENDSHIP DAY'.
But hey, I really have nothing against V-day. I mean, who doesn't love an over-glorified day for lovers? You get this warm, fuzzy feeling when someone wishes you a hapy valentine's day, or gives you those nice sweeties, but in the latter's case, the warm fuzzy feeling may be heart burn.
Of course, I'm pretty sure there is a deeper, insightful meaning to this day. You show your appreciation for the people around you, and give them little tokens to show your, er, friendship love for them.
But really, I don't get the point of Angel and Mortal Game(c). Okay, so maybe it's a way to bond and get to know other people, and so as to make sure that everyone gets a little something, but that is only if you have great angels/mortals. Poor, poor Leanne. But I know my postcard and chupa-chup(c) made your day, huh?
This Valentine's Day seemed a little different. For one thing, it is my first Valentine's in the new school compound, and I just don't feel the love (yeah, baby, yeah), and also, I spent the schoolbus ride to school chionging out postcards to [the great people], then, I spent an hour helping the CSC booth while chionging out my GP journal entry, then, in the afternoon, I spent 45 minutes chionging out my Lit essay. (THANKS FOR WAITING!!)
What a day. But I really pity those poor souls hosting the Nanking students (who are REALLY fond of the song long2 de4 chuan2 ren2, seriously, Monday, some were singing it kind of off-ish in front of the drink stall, then today, one was playing the tune kind of wrong-ish on the piano), I wonder how they manage all the homework and stress without going nuts and pulling out all their hair. KEEP GOING PEOPLE, IT'S ONLY TWO MORE DAYS!!!
So, back to Valentine's Day, here's a list of really unique gifts.
1. Soke May's Rubik's Cube
It ranks number one on my list of er, special gifts, as it really is, er, creative and different. Thank you for thinking so highly of me, but I really cannot solve it. You can stick to nail varnish next time (JUST KIDDING.).
2. Yunxuan's Divine Postcard
Wow, a letter from above!! I guess it really is unique, I mean, talk about divine intervention! But thanks anyway, Yunxuan the Divine messenger.
3. Leanne's Peace keychain
Thank you, thank you!! Wow, you know I am the PEACE MESSENGER huh? Thank you for suppoting my stand against evil and unfairness and hierarchy in this dark, dark world. Okay, that sounds really wrong.
4. Yingyu's nice pouch
It's a really nice pouch!! But the b-r-a-n-d-e-d plastic bag from sins(c) you presented to the ever honoured Jiamin was really nice too, Jiamin was haolianing in front of us throughout the MRT trip home.
5. Amelia's nice V thing
She's probably not reading this, but I'm really happy I got something from the ex-choir batch!! And it's a really cool present and all. THANKS!!
Okay, that is the top 5 list of unique (or weird) V-day presents which I cannot help but appreciate and love (aww...).
But, thanks to the rest too!! Like Jiamin, who so very nicely gave me sweets! Which you all don't have!!! HAHAHAHAHA.
So, in the end, we have all succumbed to the commercial factor of V-day, and have inevitably come out broke and laden in debts (but I have paid back the Lit Fund! I am still, to a certain extent, a great and responsible Lit Rep), but we did come out of it happier and more loved (I guess). Therefore, once again, HAPPY (REALLY EXPENSIVE) VALENTINE'S DAY!!
